Crafted Precious Metals Dealers

Decorative image with text: As defined in Chapter 1956 of the Texas Occupation Code, a crafted precious metal dealer is a person registered to engage in the business of purchasing and selling precious metal items, except for :coins, bars, commemorative medallions, or items that the dealer purchases for 105% or more of scrap value.

Anyone operating as a crafted precious metal dealer in the State of Texas must register with the Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner (OCCC).

Applying for a Certificate Registration


Crafted Precious Metal Dealers looking to obtain a new registration must submit an application online ALECSThe registration becomes active once the registration fee is paid.

This process takes 10-15 minutes to complete, in which time you should be able to create your account, pay for, and print your certificate.

 

Existing Registrants


To complete the annual renewal, log in to ALECS, click on Manage My Business & Renew Registration. From there select the registration type (Crafted Precious Metals), check the boxes and complete your payment.

To add locations log in to ALECS, click on submit application, selected crafted precious metal and apply for your new location. The same steps are followed for applying for temporary locations. When completing your new application, select temporary as the type.

To print your certificate, log in to ALECS, click on Manage My Business and then on print registration. Select crafted precious metals from the registration type, check the boxes and click on PDF to print.

To remove a certificate, log in to ALECS, click on Manage My Business and select Surrender Registration. These requests are reviewed and a final decision is generally made within 45 business days.
