Pawn shop information on optional pawn employee licensing

As of September 1, 2019, pawnshops are no longer required to license their pawn employees through the OCCC. If a pawnshop opts in (chooses to have their employees to be licensed through the OCCC), then all of its employees must be licensed.

Pawnshops may only opt in or out during the Pawn Shop Renewal period (June of every year) online through the ALECS system by following the 3 steps below:

    Log in to ALECS
    Click "Manage My Business" from the menu on the left
    Under Pawn Shop Business Options, click the button called "Pawn Employee OptIn/OptOut".
    Make your selection and click Save

As of October 1, 2019, the fee for a new pawnshop employee license is $50, and the fee for a pawnshop employee license renewal is $25.
