Remote Work Plan

Remote Work Plan

The Commissioner may authorize OCCC employees to work remotely to address a lack of available office space, meet business needs, or to provide reasonable flexibility that enhances the OCCC’s ability to achieve its mission.

See Texas Government Code Section 658.011.

General

Employees are subject to all OCCC policies and procedures regardless of their location.

Employees working remotely are prohibited from conducting in-person business at their personal residences.

Eligibility

To be eligible for remote work, an employee must:

  • Demonstrate an ability to establish priorities, manage work time, and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of job tasks and operations for which the employee is responsible.
  • Have access to a remote work site that is safe and free from interruptions.
  • Provide an appropriate level of internet connectivity and security necessary to adequately use and protect OCCC information and equipment at the remote work location.
  • Maintain effective communications and remain available for contact during scheduled work time.
  • Fully comply with OCCC policies and procedures.
  • Maintain established performance standards.

Approval

Each remote work arrangement will be documented in a written remote work agreement.

Employees working remotely must maintain a work schedule that is agreed upon between the employee and the employee’s supervisor in the remote work agreement. Supervisors will review each employee’s productivity to ensure that the employee’s work remains satisfactory, and the employee’s duties are suitable for remote work.

The OCCC will review each remote work agreement at least once per year. The OCCC may revoke a remote work agreement at any time.
